Initially, the turbocharger was positioned under the engine.

  • The pistons had internal cooling channels, while oil jets in the crankcase sprayed the underside of the pistons.

  • A single timing belt was used to drive the four camshafts, while the back of the belt also drove the water pump.

Furthermore, the intake ports and the diameter of the intake valves were designed to create a swirling effect for the air as it entered the combustion chamber.
